SAWHDA Happenings

Today, after months of practicing at home with one other dog, we found time to join Amanda's team in Lethbridge to test out our training for Castle.  We are proud to say that he did very well and has earned the right to run scent hurdle.  When he will actually race has not been determined. Our next team practice is May 31st at Shadowbar starting at 9:30 a.m. with the Lethbridge teams and as many members of the Due South Team as possible on hand to race out doors.
Our first spring race for 2014 for Due South will be at the Lethbridge and District Kennel Club on June 7th and 8th.  We have enough dogs attending the show to "play".  Really looking forward to it.

We are holding a Fun Day at Shadowbar Shepherds on Saturday, May 31st from 9:30 to 2:00 p.m.  No charge to attend and everyone is welcome.  We will do some scent hurdle practice to begin with and then move on to regular obedience starting with Pre-novice and we will have a rally course set out with Excellent being first.   In each case, someone will step in the be 'da judge' and follow dog/handler teams around the courses.

If there is anyone who wishes to do some draft dog work, we have loads of space for that, too.

We do hope to set out a novel agility course of tunnels and jumps placed in a horseshoe position  to simulate the course we will be doing at Heritage Acres on Saturday, September 13th.  This is an easy course to follow as the dog is always on the left side and the person on the inside of the course and the crowd loves it!  I am working on a couple of drills to music and will send these out for your perusal in June.

Hope to see everybody May 31st if you can make it.  And do share the word.  The more, the merrier.

Shadowbar Shepherds is located one kilometer north on Highway 22 and 1/2 kilometer west on Township Road 7-5 west of Lundbreck.

Always looking for Brags and Events that members can share.
